Our artisan roasters combine different beans to create a unique, balanced, and consistent flavor profile that cannot be achieved with a single origin bean alone. We roast and blend our coffee in small batches to ensure a perfect cup every time.

Why do roasters create coffee blends? Roasters create coffee blends to achieve a consistent flavor profile year-round and to balance out extreme tasting notes. Coffee is a seasonal crop, and crop yields vary wildly. According to the World Coffee Research organization, blending allows roasters to maintain a signature taste profile even when specific regional harvests fluctuate in quality.

What is the difference between a house blend and an espresso blend? The difference between a house blend and an espresso blend is the roasting profile and intended brewing method. A house blend is typically a medium roast designed to be smooth and balanced for standard drip coffee makers. An espresso blend is generally roasted darker to withstand the high pressure of an espresso machine, creating a thick crema and bold flavor that cuts through milk.

How do you choose beans for signature blends? We choose beans for our signature blends by identifying complementary flavor profiles. For example, we might pair a bright, acidic African coffee with a smooth, chocolatey South American bean. The goal is to create a complex but harmonious cup where the individual beans enhance one another rather than competing.

Does blended coffee have more caffeine? Blended coffee does not inherently have more caffeine than single origin coffee. Caffeine content is determined by the species of the coffee bean (Robusta beans contain roughly twice as much caffeine as Arabica beans) and the ratio of coffee to water used during brewing.
